Season's Greetings, Everyone!
It's hard to believe it, but it is time once again for the annual Christmas Card Exchange here at Golden Girls News! This is our FIFTH year for the exchange, and I hope our new members as well as Couch Potatoes veterans will participate.
What is the exchange? Very simple. Members are invited to send me their mailing address between now and Monday, November 23, 2015. Once the list is compiled, I will send an email out to the participating members with everyone's addresses. Then, you have one month to send a Christmas card (or winter, or holiday, or whatever you prefer) to the other participating members.
What is the cost? The cost is the postage to get the cards delivered. Some members are international, so it may likely be a bit more than mailing a card in your native country. Hopefully the cost isn't too major for our members (for me in the US to send a card to the UK is less than $1, and a US stamp is $0.49, so not a big increase). The other cost is the cards, but that can be at your discretion. Old, new, handmade, simple - whatever works! You do not need to include a gift, money or other items - but a nice note to the recipient is always appreciated!
Is this safe? As far as I can be involved, yes. We only invite participating members to join in, and everything is communicated off the forums regarding the mailing. I will detail here who has submitted information, and you are welcome to comment and share as you receive cards from members.
How many participants are there? It is usually 6-12 members. Of course we would love to have more, but that seems to be the norm. Nothing too major (like Rose addressing 1,000 envelopes for the charity dinner).
How long does it take for the delivery? Your best bet for international is to get things in the postal system by December 11 - two weeks before Santa's arrival. That is *usually* enough time, but you should check with your local postal system.
How do I sign up? Very simple. Please send your COMPLETE NAME AND ADDRESS to:
goldenltrs at yahoo dot com
Yes, I spell this out for our spam-bots.
I will send a reply email when I have your information. On Tuesday, November 24, I will send the list of participants as a PDF file and Excel spreadsheet. Again, this information will only go to participating members.
So, hop on your email and send me your name and mailing address information (be sure to include the country, if international).
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!
