As I finished the "Friends" series a couple weeks ago, I am now diving into " Cheers," which ran eleven seasons on NBC. It was a Thursday night staple to watch, and has a great history to it as well (Sam and Diane? Coach? Diane versus Rebecca?). Right now I am in season two, and it is really growing on me how well-written this show is. Of course some of our younger fans might know "Cheers" as the launching pad for "Frasier," starring Kelsey Grammar. Is anyone else a "Cheers" fan? Do you have a place to go "where everybody knows your name?"

Love Cheers. Such a greatly written show, so many great characters. It's amazing how they got 11 seasons out of a show that mostly took place in a bar. Really shows how great the writers were.
Still pissed Sweden haven't released all seasons, but recently noticed the UK, which for a long time was also missing seasons 7-11, now have a complete box set for a good price that I aim to buy soon.
Favorite character? I don't know, probably Coach. You just could not help but love him. So sad we lost him so early in the series.

One of the episodes I recently watched used these lines:
- Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. - It must be the cheese!
I swear those lines were used on GG as well!

Okay, adding to the Golden Girls comparisons...
* Cliff Clavin appeared on "Jeopardy," like Dorothy, Rose and Charlie. * Cliff wanted to freeze his head after he died.
NBC in the early 90s was looking for some ideas across the writers' tables!

I just wrapped up "Cheers" last night. A great show, great cast, great writing. I think I like the Rebecca years more, because the people in the bar - Cliff, Norm, Woody, etc. - all got the opportunity to spread their wings. The first seasons it became about Sam and Diane, not "Cheers." Nothing wrong with that, but it was more fun to transition into the group dynamic.
I wonder how Kirstie and Shelley really get along. I doubt they hang out, but I don't know that I have seen them both at any reunion (except for the 200th episode). It's always Shelley in attendance (most recently at the Jim Burrows honor).

Got to admit that the theme is a classic!
