"This time the dream was different... Aw I got to hug him."
It was all just a dream, but was it really to Blanche?
The episode known as "Mrs George Devereaux" was a great episode. The writing was brilliant in every way.
Whilst I did not care much about the Dorothy, Sonny Bono and Lyle Wagoner part of the story, I found it amusing in the heavy contented episode, with some great quotes.
My favourite from the episode. "Shady Pines Ma... Shady Pines Rose." with the Reply "This shouldn't work on me..", Blanche mad at Sonny Bono "Sonny Bono, get off my Lanai." as well as the "I staged my death.." "He stained his desk?"
What gets me about this episode is how well Rue McClanahan performed in this episode. She performed so well, this episode writing for Rue was pure Golden Girls.
So why is this episode "Not just another episode"? Because its pure Golden Girls Emotions, the way it was intended, to be comedic as well as put in emotional moments, no one can ever forget this episode, nor should they forget how much this episode means to alot of people who have suffered a loss and feel like they are empty.
Because George never stopped loving Blanche even after he "faked his death", the loss always stayed with Blanche, and throughout the series its shown as Blanche wants another "George in her life, and she just goes after mean to fill the void of missing George."
Rose brings up a good point during the episode (I know right...), that she wishes that she got the chance to say goodbye to Charlie, and that Blanche should just talk to him and listen to him, listen to what he has to say.
As Blanche listens to why George faked his death, he said that he didn't love her, and in the end he wants her to be his wife again, to which Blanche says basically "Before you go can i please get a hug." The two hug and Blanche wakes up.
She wakes up knowing that George is dead, but knowing in her dream she got to hug him and that she no longer feels empty and she is happy knowing that she got to hug him.
This episode is definitely important, for anyone who has felt alone after losing a loved one.
