Disney may be splitting their main focus between "Star Wars" and "Marvel" franchises, but that doesn't mean they've forgotten about the classics.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Disney filed multiple trademark applications this month for all types of merch related to "The Golden Girls."
Disney is the parent company of Buena Vista International Television, which currently has the rights for all things "Golden."
Among the swag for the classic TV show, Disney lists they want "The Golden Girls" for board games, pins, t-shirts, magnets and DVDs -- basically all the things you would buy for your grandma.
"The Golden Girls," which had its initial run from 1985 - 1992, is still cherished by generations today as younger viewers have experienced the show through re-runs on TV Land.
In fact, the franchise carries such a young following that an off-broadway show, "The Golden Girls Musical Parody: PRIDE Edition," is about to kick off in NYC.
The concept for the updated show are pretty whacky, as their website describes, "The Golden Girls (Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, Sophia) are getting ready for the annual Shady Pines Retirement Home Gay Pride Talent Show when Latin Superstar, Ricky Martin, moves in next door."
Unfortunately, they couldn't score the actual Ricky Martin for the performance.
