One of my all-time favorite sitcoms. I've watched all nine seasons THREE times over the past two years and have been watching random episodes every now and then. I also always put it on in the background when I'm cleaning the house, something I never do with any other show. I just know it so well, I don't need to see the actors deliver their lines anymore, most of it is forever imprinted in my mind. This show just never gets old to me, I love it so much.

ELR appears on a local station every morning at 7am. Sometimes I watch it, and it's usually funny. When the show was on originally, I could not get into it. However, as I've gotten older, some of the themes and jokes make more sense now.

Do you have any examples of the themes you mention? I ask because I've never had a problem with the humor being too "adult", I've loved the show since I was around 17 when it first started airing in Sweden.

I don't mean adult... but situations like Ray wanting to golf instead of stay home on the weekend, or having family that annoys you that appears randomly... that stuff is happening to me more and more.

Ah, I see, thanks.
I started watching Everybody Loves Raymond from scratch again last night, guess I'm going for some kind of record. I organized my movies for some time with some episodes playing in the background, all of a sudden I realised I had watched two discs (10 episodes!)

I've been watching the reruns recently and I have to admit that ELR is a quality sitcom. Great scripts, great acting (especially the interaction between Raymond and Debra!), great characters etc. I don't wonder why it's Little Sven's all-time favorite sitcom.

Well, it's not my all-time favorite, but definitely one of them Ray and Debra are great together, they had such great chemistry, they all do IMO. Started season two yesterday, where the show picks up steam and never seem to dip in quality once the actors are settled in their characters.

Oops, I meant to use the words "one" and "of", but this heatwave makes me forgetful. Here's a scene I find rather hilarious:

The interaction between Debra and Marie is lovely, Love-Hate relationship only a a mother-daughter-in law could share. My favorite eps are : Mother's Day (1) The Bigger Person (2) The First Time (3) The Cult (4) where marie and debra don't speak and other things happen, epic times. season 6 and 1st ep of season 7.

Actually, Married... With Children is my all-time favorite sitcom, always has been. The Golden Girls is tied second with ALF.
Those are some great episodes you listed, love the last of the three-parter where Marie and Debra make up. Weren't you the guy who had the house edition of Everybody Loves Raymond on DVD?

I must chime in here: I LOVE RAYMOND too! Again when it first started, not for me. Then it aired in syndication. Started getting into it. I was lucky to catch first run episodes the last few seasons. LOVED the final episode where NOTHING happened: no stupid dream, no moving everyone to another city or putting everyone in jail. Just life goes on, as it always has. My favourite episode is the two-parter (1 hour when it aired originally) - ITALY! So many classic lines in there. Marie's Meatballs Brazziole Aunt Serena Is Robert Gay? but there's one episode I just can't stand - rarely, if ever do I watch it: the one with the annoying friend of the boys - Spencer. Nope, it's my skip episode. I have all 9 seasons on DVD - love the commentaries and bloopers. But I don't have the house

I soooo agree with you! Though I hope we're not spoiling the finale for everyone (I know it's an old show, but some have yet to see it and may want to be surprised).
It was so refreshing watching a finale where NOTHING changes, unlike most other ones like you mentioned. I don't need closure in the way of everyone moving away or whatever, never understood why every other show feels the need to end like that.
I ALSO have a hard time with that Spencer episode! He's sooo annoying, I cringe at the scenes with him and Raymond. Then again I have a hard time with child actors in general.
Those episodes you mention are some of my favorites as well, especially Italy! It's such a beautiful episode. Beautifully shot, beautiful music, beautiful moments. Ray kind of annoys me when he's so selfish for most of the time during the trip, but whatever. I was in Rome for my honeymoon in June and can totally see what he means when he tries to explain the feeling of being there at the end of the episode. It was a beautiful city and I kept hearing the Italy theme in my head the hole trip!
I haven't started watching the commentaries just yet (I'm not a big fan of those since it feels like watching the episode/movie without actually watching it), but I will try to do it on my next viewing of the show.

Yes, I think you are the one who finally made me buy the season sets individually. You told me the house set was a mess/poorly constructed. So I went for the separate releases instead, even though I think I am missing a bonus disc or two that may have been included in the house set.

I would be interested in knowing if the episode of Robert's and Amy's wedding is edited on the house DVD set too.
