Have you picked up a movie ticket lately? What have you seen?

I watched the latest entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise last night - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It was pretty good, nothing special. May be a notch above the original in this reboot series, but not by much. Good popcorn fun is the best way I can describe it.

Last night I saw Changeling (2008). Angelina Jolie as Christine Collins was sensational. I've always had some prejudices against the film without any particular reason, so it was a surprise even for me how impressed I was about the film. The story angered and saddened me. And I was hoping until the last minute that she could find her son alive.

I haven't seen it yet, because I'm quite torn. I love Clint, even when he's not starring in his movies, but I reeeeeally don't like Angelina Jolie. I'll watch it, eventually. Not rushing to see it, though.

A few months ago I didn't have any kind of opinion about Angelina Jolie. But after seeing Maleficent and now Changeling I have started to like her (maybe even a lot!).

Watched Tango & Cash yesterday, an 80's action classic with Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russel. Been a while since I'd seen it since I never re-bought it on DVD after having sold my VHS collection. This time on Blu-ray was a very nice experience.

The Rock was the natural choice for the next big action hero after Stallone's career was in the crapper and Arnold took a break to become governor at the early 2000's. He disappointed me by doing way too many comedies and other bad projects for him. He's moving back to the genre lately, I enjoyed Faster a lot for an example, but Hercules doesn't interest me that much. Stallone said he wants The Rock as the new villain for Expendables 4, that could be cool.

Watched The Expendables 3 earlier this week. It was like the rest of the movies, very cool but not very good. It just doesn't pack the same punch it should be, like the classic 80's action movies this franchise is supposed to be an homage to.

Just finished watching How To Marry a Millionaire on TCM with Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Big Daddy. Great movie -- and what a powerful screen presence Bacall was.

Watched Escape Plan the other day with my folks, who also love Arnold and Sly. They thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was the second time I'd seen it in a week or so, but I didn't mind.
