As a guy in his *cough* late 30s *cough* I have grown up with Star Wars. The three original films, the prequels, the comic books, the toys - they all are as much a part of my life as my family, friends and schooling. I am simply hooked on the series.
The prequels did not do much for me, but I still appreciated what they were. However, in seeing the second theatrical trailer for Star Wars VII - The Force Awakens, I am immediately taken back to my kid-dom, sitting in a movie theater anxiously awaiting the big loud blast of John Williams music.
And so, for the umpteenth time (yes, I have watched quite a bit), here is the new trailer:
And in case you missed the first one...
So, who else is a Star Wars fan?
And remember when Bea Arthur appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special??

I was a fan as a kid, but it didn't stick. These days I'm a Trekkie. However, the trailer impressed me, it looks and feels like one of the old Star Wars movies and understand the excitement so many fans are feeling.

I have always enjoyed Star Trek: The Next Generation... but beyond that, I never got pulled into the franchise.
Star Wars - bring it on!

I watched some of Star Trek: The Original Series, all of The Next Generation, bits of Deep Space 9 (before it got weird with Sisko, Parwraithes, Emmissaries and whatever else), half of Voyager and one episode of Enterprise.

I never knew about the Star Wars Holiday Special. It was really nice to see Bea Arthur having a good time in that clip.

I am trying to find the true, original version of Star Wars - the version that appeared in theaters in 1977.
I'm wondering if anyone knows where to find it online.

The last official trailer premieres tonight during Monday Night Football on ESPN... but this short teaser is just plain awesome. I love the looking-up perspective and seeing the vehicles in the air.

Do you mean the one with David Prowse's proper West Country accent? I've seen a short youtube clip of one scene, but nothing else. But if there is an original version, then I think George Lucas will have it firmly locked up.

So, who went to see Star Wars on opening night?? I didn't, but did watch it last week. I enjoyed it very, very much. Watched the original trilogy the week before to warm up to it, had been many years since I last saw them. I liked the new one so much I'd like to see it on the big screen again. What did you think and did you see it opening night?

I went the night before - Thursday, 7:30 pm - and saw it. It is the only showing I have seen so far.
Overall I was very happy. I need to go back and watch it again for more details. The first viewing I just wanted to take it all in, and enjoy it.
Some parts of the story felt short, I will say... But overall pretty tasty. The bridge scene, however, did not make me happy at all!!

Oh, don't get me started on the bridge scene. You just don't do that in a Star Wars movie. Some nerve!
