I've been watching the Royle Family recently. It still is a brilliant, astonishingly well-written sitcom. Nana is my favourite character, and Anthony, a lazy sod (according to Jim) gets my sympathy. I highly recommend the series 1-3 (+ Christmas specials 1999 and 2000).

Wisdoms of Barbara Royle:"Well, I don't care what anybody is - I don't care whether they're gay, straight or Australian. It's what they're like as a person that matters."

Couldn't agree more, Jarkko! The Royle Family is excellently written and still stands up today. I love the series and Christmas specials that you mentioned - not keen on their newer material. Can't beat the classics!

Liz Smith died on Christmas Eve at the age of 95. My love for her will last as long as I live. I miss you, Nana.
