I haven't watched The Golden Girls in a couple of weeks now, but here are my thoughts that I shared on the other forum about two episodes I recently watched and felt I needed to rant on a little:
1. Season 5 episode An Illegitimate Concern, God how I loathe this episode, I really do.
So they make George out to be a cheater who has an illegitimate child behind Blanche's back and make an episode out of it. Fine. But to then go on and ruin some of the strong character we've seen in Sal and most of all Charlie, by making them out to be cheaters as well, just to sell a joke, not even good ones?! That pisses me off, royally! Dorothy doesn't seem to care that her father cheated on her mother, despite what she herself went through with Stan. And Charlie, of all people, cheating on Rose? Give me a break!
Anyone else feels this way? Surely I can't be the only one?
2. Season 5 episode Twice in a Lifetime, another season 5 dud. What were they thinking here? Rose suddenly had another boyfriend in high school (despite being with Charlie since she was a child) and claims she never got over him?! Ridiculous. Also don't like the way she treats Miles. I think season 5 is easily my least favorite season the the show.

I just watched "How do you solve a problem like Sophia?"
It's interesting how fast Sophia becomes a nun - I think she saw the John Forsythe ink spots and suddenly she was in the habit! ;-)
I love the head nun actress... Great fun to see her gripe about Sophia.

I remember when I saw that episode as a kid, I wanted to be a nun as well! It seemed so fun. I may have watched that episode coupled with the Sister Act movies and gotten it into my head that's what it was like for a nun.

Recently watched the episode where Sophia breaks her friend out of the nursing home. But I always wondered why they had to sneak her out. Couldn't she just leave if she wanted to? I always wonder about that.

I always wonder about that. No she couldn't I think remember when Dorothy & Stan put Sophia in SP leaving wasn't an option!

I watched the episode Stans Return where Dorthy and Stan sleep together after he tells her Crissy left him. I also watched the one where Dorthy cheats with glen in the episode that was no lady. This episode reminds me how for being the generation they were how sexually librel they were and it was wonderfully written I think I actually prefer the earlier seasons to the later ones. I think the quality was better. But would these things really happen in real life and do these situations happen ? Anyway my 2 penny's (im British so I say pennies instead of cents lol )

I haven't watched GG in such a long long time, but I am feeling like a binge watching session isn't too far away!

I popped on Season 6 two nights ago and watched Blanche Delivers and Once In St Olaf. Two great strong season openers - hadn't watched in so long, was great to revisit. Last night I started with Zborn Again.

Having cut off cable at the beginning of the year, it's been months since I watched a GG episode. Today, I popped in S3, disc 2, starting with "Old Friends." I forgot that was the episode with Rose's bear, Fernando, so it was nice to have that humor against Alvin's mental demise.
I have four seasons of GG on dvd, and I haven't popped them open in ages. I forgot how much editing is done to broadcast episodes... and it was like watching new shows with the little extra lines and scenes.

Last night I popped in Disc 1 of Season 7. I am watching in no chronological order whatsoever, haha! I always enjoy 'Hey, Look Me Over'. I think that was as far as I got, I was pretty tired.

Today I watched the last two-part episodes - Home Again, Rose and the final episode.
The final episode is great - especially since I watched it on DVD for the first time. So many little moments are left out of the television broadcasts. When Blanche explained that Dorothy and Lucas might not want Sophia living with them, there was more to it on the DVD than on television.
Rose's heart episodes definitely show how close the foursome are, and how they are like family. I wonder what it was like to film that episode, and especially seeing Betty White looking like she was very ill. I think a bit of realism was lost, however, by not having any machines hooked up to Rose. I know it's for appearance, but someone post-bypass would definitely be on oxygen or at least a heart machine.
Now I want to watch Golden Palace!

In honor of The Pope's visit to the U.S., I had to watch "The Pope's Ring."
Not one of the best, and it does seem a bit odd that Sophia magically got the ring... But having the lookalike at the end of the episode was pretty funny.

I recently watched Love Me Tender from season 4.
I like Blanche's line : Eddie is a love machine?!
and Dorothy's : I have needs Ma!
I like the fact that Dorothy is the slot here instead of Blanche for a change that's nice!
