Do you ever watch a show and feel from the get go, that "I have a personal connection to these people" and for all you know you probably in some weird way do. You don't know the cast of the show, but you know their character you know what their trait is.. (kinda reminds them of you a little bit). and you feel like you were on that set, in that studio filming the show
What is causing me to write this? because over the past few days I've been reading a few tweets on how great shows (that don't get the viewership but have the fan base and the voice..) but have a strong fanbase none the less, want to save Lucifer, why? because its a good show, greys anatomy fans where furious with the season finale (teddy returning.. you know pregnant..) and losing two main characters who had been there more then a decade that they created a hashtag to boycott the show... And I wont go into detail about the Roseanne drama.. But you feel like you know the characters you feel like your one in the family..
I will say that sometimes I watch Golden Girls just to listen to the voices of Rue, Bea and Estelle, 3 powerful voices for the era, as well as Betty. As weird as it may seem I fell in love with the series again 15 years after it ended. By that time Estelle, Rue and Bea were gone and something tipped me over and said "You need to watch it sometimes and listen to Blanche talk, or a story about Italy, or Bea's monotone sarcasm. I watched Bea in her one woman show in 2001, great night, but that wasn't the Bea I remembered from golden girls, the Bea I knew was Dorothy or Maude and after Bea died, to me she remained Dorothy. Rue remained Blanche and Estelle remained Sophia, as weird as it is i'm probably not the only one who thinks this way.
I read that some people still watch Designing Women to hear Meshach Taylor, Alice Ghostley and Dixie Carter talk. Fair enough
That they'll Listen to interviews, songs if they sung any. Remembering them for being them, and any show today, where one of the main actors have died, but the series is still going strong
Other shows include, Maude, Diff'rent Strokes, Night Court, Perry Mason (because Raymond Burr will always be known as Perry), Dallas, All Saints, the Simpsons, scrubs, or any other show you may have watched over the years.
To me I don't call it weird. I call it respecting a deceased actor/actresses legacy and work, all the hours they put in to make the series work, to show how hard they worked, because in the end, they did it not for them but to make other people smile. And even after the show finishes even, that if you keep watching it and you see one of those actors that you smile knowing you are someone who kept up with the episodes or the characters.
So remember, don't be embarrassed if that's why you rewatch a show, embrace it, that leads you to other shows or work they may have done.
