Now it has been awhile since my last post, but I'm am always thinking of posts to put on the forum. As everyone knows I have spoken at length on many topics on golden girls. And it makes me happy to read posts on how people found the show.
My Thoughts-
My thoughts on the series may agree with some people others it can bring discussion, and thats what I love to think people do when they read my posts, but I have seen many people in twitter saying that the show has helped them through tough times, and it has made them laugh. In my opinion this is what a good series should do. I have posted that the episode "Old Friends" helped me after my grandmother passed away from dementia many years ago, the episode made me realise that you will always be there for someone even if you aren't with them in that moment.
Now-
It doesn't change, my thoughts on episodes i've watched don't really change that often, but my opinion on which seasons are the best are seasons 1-3, that's just me, other people like the older seasons, while some prefer the earlier works and the heavier sarcastic remarks and better(ish) storylines, and that is fine. I do like Rose's character becoming a lot more sassy in later seasons, but always feel like you could see the tension during some episodes.
That opinion hasn't changed, and from what we know, there was just a bit of tension, hours were long, the show was award winning and it was ranked in the top 10. the show remained a top 10 hit for 6 of its 7 seasons.
and its also good to know the series had a massive following in the LGBT community and now still has a huge following, with podcasts and even more merch being released as time goes by.
Important-
The show remains important for the fact back then it went head on with topics not many other shows would tackle head on. Other shows would often have the whole 'don't do drugs' or something about a car or family member. What golden girls did was wow a generation and made millennials pay attention. The series deep dived into assisted suicide, pill addiction, health issues and domestic issues including an episode around domestic violence. and what the show did was it made sure it handled the topics with great care and they tried not to make fun of the situation. Thats why it is important to remember the show did this and how it should've been handled no matter what.
