It was so refreshing watching a finale where NOTHING changes, unlike most other ones like you mentioned. I don't need closure in the way of everyone moving away or whatever, never understood why every other show feels the need to end like that. I haven't seen the ELR finale, but I totally (my English teacher said this adverb should not be used in proper English, but I defy him) agree that we don't need a closure! E.g. I will never ever like the finale of the Golden Girls, though it's nice to know that in the end (after the endless jokes about Dorothy's outlook and a lack of social life) Dorothy is the one who gets a man, not Blanche! It would have been so nice to have a closure where Girls were sitting on a couch watching I Love Lucy marathon on TV and Rose would ask "In which episode and season is the finale of I Love Lucy" and Blache would hand Dorothy the Metro section and... well you know the rest!

I would be interested in knowing if the episode of Robert's and Amy's wedding is edited on the house DVD set too. That episode is EDITED?! What is missing? First I've ever heard of such a thing.

When the episode aired on CBS, it was 1 hour (with commercials). In syndication, it airs as a two-parter. Two things are missing: There is a rather lengthy scene by scene "so far on ELR" detailing the ups and down as and ups and downs of R&A's relationship. Also, the scene where Robert is in the bathroom at the church and MArie walks in, has part of the scene cut. Gianni walks in tries to use the washroom, but can't cuz Marie is there.
It really is a sin not to have these scenes on the DVDs. They did such a good job with extras, and then to miss this. Try to catch the show in reruns or on YouTube, and see the scenes.

Damn it, those scenes are missing from my set. INEXCUSABLE!!!!!!
By the way, Clayton, I recently watched the Spencer episode TWICE in less than 24 hours! I watched it at night when my wife was asleep and then she wanted to watch the episodes I had seen later the next day - with me!

I'm on season eight at the moment, and I have to say how much I LOVE the new addition of the MacDougalls! Of course, Amy is in the show on and off from the first season and I've always liked her character. In late season seven, when Robert and Amy are about to get married, we first get to see her parents and also her brother who lives with them. The parents, Hank (played by Fred Willard) and Pat (played by Georgia Engel) are hilariously uptight and very religious and are NOT used to the ways of Frank and Marie. Amy's brother, Peter (played by Chris Elliott) is quite a character, very eccentric. They really chose great actors for these parts. I cherish every episode these characters appear in, they go along great with the rest of the cast.

During some episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond I'd really like to kick Raymond's butt. The Checkbook is a good example of such. P.s. I'm watching the reruns - 10 episodes a week. ELR is astonishingly well written and acted.

LOL, is it because he's lazy, stupid or that you're very picky with the bills yourself? I love the scene where Robert tries to kick the ATM back alive!

LOL, is it because he's lazy, stupid or that you're very picky with the bills yourself? I love the scene where Robert tries to kick the ATM back alive! Just because he's an IDIOT (as Debra would say) . And the way he implies to his parents, that Debra is having problems when the actual problem is his own ego! And he reminds me of my friend: he talks without thinking and says silly (and offensive) things. I love the same ATM-scene as you. And I love it, when Ray says to Ally: "You saw Daddy talking. You couldn't stop me?" as well as the moments when the lights go off due to the unpaid electricity bill.

Yay, reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond continue in Finland - 5 episodes a week! By the way, what happens in the last episode of Everybody Loves Raymond?

Yes, please. They (the local tv-channels) have never aired the final season - not even during the reruns.

I have only seen it a couple times... the final episode is on Netflix, and definitely catches you off guard.

Now I've seen it, the last episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. And I don't know when or where, but I had seen it before without knowing it being the finale. I think it was quite good. One of the best last episodes I've ever seen. For example The Golden Girls finale is still too tragic for me.

Me too. I prefer down-to-earth endings, endings that doesn't turn comedy into tragedy. Good comedy includes tragedy, but it doesn't mean that the finale should be tragic. Dorothy, you have to leave Lucas and move back to 6151 Richmond Street, Miami!
