There's always something in The Golden Girls that doesn't make sense. Bring it up here, and let's figure it out!

I know I asked this on Couch Potatoes, but I cannot recall the answer.
I am watching "Letter to Gorbachev," and in the dream scene where the girls are addressing the Moscow audience...
What was the cheer being made before Dorothy took the microphone? It's somewhat muffled, or maybe a Russian word, but I definitely cannot tell what is being aid.
And - the Russian government throws a press conference, and plans a trip for the girls to Moscow, without even meeting Rose??? A stretch, to say the least.

(He was the General Secretary of the Central Commitee of the Communist Party of Soviet Union.) This is yet another excellent scene of the Golden Girls. Poor Dorothy...

Jacques - that sounds right, but yet Breznez died in 1982. Would they cheer for him in 1987, when the episode first aired?

I can assure you, Jim, that they are cheering Dorothy as Brezhnev (or Brežnev) - you can see it e.g. from the English of Finnish subtitles of the episode. And Dorothy as a resurrected Brežnev (plus fur hat) is quite funny. On the other hand, the Golden Girls wasn't very accurate about details, I guess.

You're welcome, Jim! And sorry about my silly typo. It should say English OR Finnish subtitles, not English of Finnish subtitles.

I just watched the Mamey Watkins episode... why didn't she approach Blanche after Blanche's mother passed away? She was gone before the series started...
And wouldn't Big Daddy have gone after Mamey Watkins instead of marrying the Widow Spencer?

I think Mamey Watkins felt she had to stay in the background. Even attending events like Blanche's wedding, she hid herself. I think she didn't want to disrespect Big Mommy by coming back into Big Daddy's life. So she stayed away, and probably didn't let the family know of her whereabouts. Just a guess.

I recently watched "Sophia's Wedding" from S4 (I'm going through all the DVDs, in random order).
Did no one think it odd that Max and Esther were married for so many years, and she passes away... Sophia and Dorothy go to the funeral, and the conflict between Max and Sophia is resolved. Then, just days later, he's in the sack with her and they are getting married.
Talk about a rebound relationship!!
It's definitely odd, compared to the girls following Dr. Harry Weston, and making sure to give him 18 months after his wife passed away to start flirting.

Why does Blanche keep saying that all the men she dates are dead men? I don't get this reference?

I hate both of these episodes due to their lack of continuity. Sophia has a bathroom in her room? Since when? And that communal bathroom that Max walks in on Dorothy? What we can't use the repaired bathroom from season one? Don't get me wrong - some funny stuff. Rose with the pot on her head, Lassie was an alcoholic...but still.
