A couple years ago I purchased a 1960s record player, with a radio built in. I have bought lots of record albums at a local half-price store - all kinds of music for $0.50 - $2.00 each. The sound is unique, and I think much better than digital.
Does anyone else have a record player? Did you have one as a kid?

I had one as a kid, not now though. I have some records. Mostly soundtracks and some ALF records that were released when the show was on the air with merchandise selling like crazy. I'd like to own a player, but space is way too limited for me to have one at the moment.

Little Sven - It took me quite awhile to get the record player that I wanted. While it's not exact, it does a great job. I do need to take it in for a clean-up and wire-check -- the sound will occasionally cut out for no reason. Plus, I need to get some needles for it as well.
But the sound quality is so much warmer than anything electronic. Man it's great...

I have one too and I'm so proud you know there's nothing like listening to my old Elvis Presley records this way! The sound isn't as pure as it can be nowdays but boy I like hearing that old "grrrr" sound old LPs used to make while playing!!!

I have a record player as well. I also hava many lp's and singles - mostly from my youth. I also love the impure sound and every tiny pops and crackles.

I too love that sound.
What many people don't realise is that a crispy fresh vinyl album actually sounds better than a CD. Also, it can last a lifetime if taken good care of, whereas CD's are supposed to have a lifetime of about 30 years.

I had one as a child and I have one now: it has the turntable, radio, twin tape compartments and CD.

I had one but did it got lost in my recent move. I only had a few actual records. I loved this one Patti Smith record and listened to it a lot! I eventually might buy another one. Vinyl seemed to have somewhat of a novelty comeback lately.

I took my record player in to be worked on - and the estimate was nearly $500. I politely declined, and picked the stereo up... and now it does not work at all. Very disappointed.
