Does anyone else on here use eBay to purchase things... and PayPal to pay for them (or, if selling, collect funds)? The reason I ask is I found this article about PayPal and eBay splitting up (I knew that), but PayPal will start robo-calling their users and will sell the information. I know that companies all over the world do this now, but I am just rubbed the wrong way here. I don't want a company having the ability to call and sell to me after I have already subscribed to the national Do Not Call list. Am I over-thinking this?

I have a PayPal account and this alarmed me too, Jim. They are by far the easiest way to purchase things online and I often feel they don't really have much competition, therefore we don't really have that much option but to have a PP account these days. And I suspect PP don't really feel that many people will vote with their feet and delete their accounts because they kind of have a monopoly going on. I don't like the idea that they have found ways of finding contact numbers for us, even if we don't provide them in our PP account details. WTF?

I don't want to be contacted for sales, surveys, etc. Paypal is the portal I use to pay eBay sellers I use (and the rare times I sell). The convenience factor is great... but, I will walk from PayPal if this proves true. I am going to email them and see what they say... more to come.

I rarely ever use eBay to buy things (never sell) but I felt like the last time I did, the only payment method offered was PayPal. Otherwise I think I could probably get away with ditching PP altogether. Oh but then I think of some of the recurring payments and donations I have going to places such as Sloth Sanctuary Cost Rica. I don't think there is any other way I can set up recurring donations to them, so I would have to pull out of that which I don't want to do. Damn, this makes me so angry.

This alarms (and angers) me too, Jim and Sam. Btw, Sam, you really made my day by your donations to Sloth Sanctuary Costa Rica.

I am really nuts about sloths - I'm hoping one day I'll get to Costa Rica to hug those beautiful furry bundles for myself Until then I'll keep donating so they can keep hugging cuddly toys and nibbling on carrots.
