You have to wonder if a guy in his garage did them. I've seen far more creative and professional efforts by a guy in his garage, if I'm honest.

So although the DVDs are not that pretty, what is the quality like ? I have all 7 seasons on DVD but I brought it from some one line store, the quality is watchable but you can tell it has been copied !
So is the quality good as if so it might be worth purchasing as a back up
Are there any extras on the disks ?

Well, how's this for a surprise....
I was wandering around HMV in Liverpool today and stumbled across a stack of Home Improvement complete collection DVDs. This is a brand new Region 2 UK release of all 8 seasons of Home Improvement! This includes Seasons 5-8 which were previously unreleased in the UK back in the day. It was £39.99 and I snapped it up instantly. It isn't even available on Amazon yet and Zavvi has a release date of some time in February 2016!
I pondered why Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have released a complete box set for Home Improvement but not The Golden Girls. The only thing I can think is that sales for HI the first time round were better than TGG so they saw it as a safer bet. I can't think of any other reason why they would have only re-released the original 4 seasons for TGG.
In any case, I think this looks extremely encouraging for eventually getting the final three seasons of TGG in the UK. I've just emailed Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to see if they can give me any more information. Hopefully if sales of this latest TGG box set are good, they may well release the final three seasons this time. I'll let you know if I get a reply to my email. While I was in HMV, there was one TGG Seasons 1-4 box set left and by the time I came back from looking at the HI boxset, it had gone! So if that's any indication, hopefully sales will be good!

What shall I do Is it worth it ?
Merry Christmas !

Rob, how are the discs in the HI collection presented? Do the individual seasons have the episode lists printed inside like the Region 1 version? I have them all on R1 but my multi-region DVD player is on it's way out so I'm tempted to get R2 so I can play them on my other blu-ray player that isn't multi-region.
RichmondStreet5164: I haven't looked closely at the discs yet but would imagine the extras are the same as on the Region 1 versions - they were all pretty forgettable extras, IIRC. The quality of the picture is fine. I'm not too sure I would recommend going for the 1-4 set unless you can get it for £15. It's not worth much more given the state of how they've presented the set.

Hi Sam,
The HI box set contains 8 slim plastic DVD cases housed in an outer cardboard box. Sadly, none of the 8 seasons have episode titles anywhere, they are just plain white DVDs (similar to how the recent TGG ones are silver) but when played, they are identical to the previous UK releases and all the German releases. Bonus features are identical too.
Despite the irritating lack of episode guide, I am still happy with my purchase as, like you, I am trying to phase out non-Region 2 DVDs in my collection as far as possible. With HI being one of my all-time favourite shows, I'd prefer to be able to play them long into the future on any UK DVD player.
