Summer has been crazy, been working non-stop now that school is over and I've started blogging again, which takes up a lot of my online time. I'll try to come by more often now that my summer job is over.

Thanks, I've misses this place as well. Sorry to say to those of you who don't speak my language, the blog is in Swedish and is about my biggest passion - movies. I post pics of my latest movie purchases, write about coming releases that interests me, I review movies, write articles about my favorite actors and have even interviewed the author of one of my all-time favorite action movies. I used to blog similar things before, but lost the passion for a while. Now I'm back more passionate than ever. I guess there's always Google translate, but the translation is a mess, the font size changes for some reason and the spaces between paragraphs are all messed up. So, I advise everyone to learn Swedish instead The blog is called Dad Loves Movies, since that's what I think my son will describe me in a few years, and is how I view myself as well - a dad who loves movies. pappaalskarfilm.blogg.se/

Question, what does the forum renewal fee cost every year? I thought it was a free forum.

Question, what does the forum renewal fee cost every year? I thought it was a free forum. The forum itself is free... However, the domain "www.GoldenGirlsNews.com" is registered, which costs a few dollars.

A big part of the problem is that Betty White is the only one left alive. Guest stars aren't featured, profiled or interviewed. Certain stories would be interesting. You could see if Tony Thomas or Susan Harris would be willing to be interviewed. Some questions I might ask would be: Where would you have taken Nancy Walker's character had she not died? Why didn't we see more of the male children? It would have been interesting to see Blanche's son, Chip, for example. Would he have been Blanche's opposite or twin? Was Dorothy's straight, transvestite brother considered by NBC too controversial to be portrayed in an episode? Was Debbie Reynolds ever approached to replace Bea Arthur as opposed to the creation of Golden Palace? What other possibilities were explored when Bea quit? Can you interview some of the surviving guest stars? Some of the guest stars had amazing careers. John Fiedler, the old lady who played the stewardess on the episode about the death of Rose's aunt and the lady who played Rose's mother come to mind. And how on Earth did they get Mickey Rooney to guest star? He was a Hollywood icon when he made his appearance, but there appeared to be no audience reaction to his presence. I thought that was strange.
Just Some Thoughts
Mr. Ira Schafer

The forum itself is free... However, the domain "www.GoldenGirlsNews.com" is registered, which costs a few dollars. May I ask how much it is? I bought a three-year package initially, which was ~$30. I have not looked into costs for renewal, but I would imagine it would be similar for a similar length of time. And really, it's not about the money. I can afford the cost, but I don't want to do it for the forums to be a desolate location. I recognize that the show has passed most milestones - syndication, DVDs, reunions, passing of stars, streaming, etc. But I guess it's hard for me to accept that so many of our core group have moved on... and without even a "goodbye." That's the tough part.

I thought that was strange. Just Some Thoughts Mr. Ira Schafer Thanks for posting, Ira. We really do not have much connection to any of the guest stars or staff on the show. Jim Colucci did a great job in his book "Golden Girls: Forever" in connecting all those dots. As I find those stories and interviews, I do post the article link and full text, as possible. Much of those details may be lost to the ages as well. In 30+ years not only have we lost Rue, Estelle and Bea, but several staff as well. And there are reunions (the Paley Center interviews, which are linked on the board) and updates occasionally, but the last big Golden Girls thing will be Betty's passing. And at 95, with her 90th birthday tribute, her SAG Lifetime Achievement, her Emmys and her various interviews, I think Betty has left it all out on the table for her fans. I appreciate your questions... and perhaps we could get someone to answer them for us!

Here are my thoughts on this...
Jim, you're doing a great job and always have, but I don't think you should take the lack of constant activity personal. This place may not be very active, but I love the fact that it's always here. Aside from an ALF forum, it's the community I've been a member of for the longest time (2005). I've been a part of many forums before and I always hate to see them shut down because of dryspells even though there are still members popping in every now and then. I don't see the harm in keeping it here for everyone to enjoy whenever they visit, there's a lot of quality to go through here even if you don't post something. It's hard to accept that it's not as active as it used to be in the mid- to late 00's, but most of the core members are still here, still fans, just busier, I guess. The love for the site, the show, our girls and each other is still very much alive and to take away the place that unites us, I feel, would be a mistake.
I'm making this my startpage as of today so that I'm constantly reminded to stop by more often.
