Hello friends,
My name is Alan, I'm an artist based out of California by way of Florida. I had a very rough childhood and had a lot to deal with from an early age. My escape was television. When everyone else was going to bed, I'd sneak down to the TV and turn on Nick at Nite and Lifetime TV. There I found a treasure trove of characters and stories that helped me escape from the troubles I dealt with during the daytime.
One of my passions as an artist is model design. One day I decided to make a model of The Golden Girls' house as a fun project for myself. When I moved to California a few years ago, I realized I couldn't take it with me because it would get damaged so I put it up for sale on Etsy. I was amazed as overnight it became a sensation, picked up with all the major blogs and it went viral. Up until that point I hadn't realized that so many people loved the show as I did. I got emails and tweets from people of all ages, men and women, gay and straight people alike. I was so comforted to know that I wasn't the only fan that watched every episode many times over and over and could recite whole speeches, that other people also used it to fall asleep at night, that my love for the show and the Girls was felt by so many other people across the world!
This inspired me to make more artwork based on the show. I am the happiest when I am creating something beautiful that brings joy to people. This show brings people together and I am so thankful for it. I am so grateful for this site and how it has brought us fans together.
